Alarm and Life Safety Systems

Alarm&Life Safety_350x263.jpgFrom addressable alarms to mass notification systems, Harroun has the capability to design, build, install, and service custom alarm and life safety systems for virtually any environment. Our state-of-the-art systems combine detection, alarm, and suppression capabilities, while notifying users through smartphones or computers.

System Design, Installation, and Commissioning Services

Our team provides replacement, expansion, modification, and new system install for:

  • Addressable and conventional fire alarms
  • Bi-directional amplifier/distributed antenna systems
  • Central station monitoring
  • Deluge/pre-action control panels
  • Fire suppression
  • Infrared/ultraviolet flame detection
  • Local and wide area mass notification systems
  • Smoke evacuation and control systems
  • Very early smoke detection apparatus (VESDA) systems

Inspections and Preventive Maintenance

Along with your overall life safety goals, we tailor our inspections and maintenance to the local occupancy, system, and code requirements. All inspections are conducted in conformance with National Fire Alarm Code NFPA-72 and Factory Mutual (FM) requirements, along with applicable manufacturer recommendations. After each inspection, we’ll provide full documentation of the results, any code deficiencies, and our recommendations.

Special Hazard Suppression Systems

When high-hazard, high-value, or specialized equipment can't be protected by a conventional fire sprinkler system, we offer the following waterless/clean agent fire suppressants:

  • ECARO-25
  • Inert gas
  • Novec 1230 halocarbon

Other systems we provide include:

  • Low/high expansion foam systems
  • Dry/wet chemical systems
  • High/low pressure carbon dioxide systems

Aspirating Smoke Detector Systems

At Harroun, we have expertise in aspirating smoke detector systems that use continuous air sampling to detect hazardous or combustible gases. These systems are capable of detecting signs of fire at very early stages, helping ensure maximum evacuation time.
Aspirating smoke detectors are ideal for environments with concentrated populations—such as transportation centers, stadiums, or hospitals—as well as buildings where exit paths are restricted or occupants need extra help. We also recommend early detection systems for facilities with high levels of pollution or ones that maintain extreme temperatures, such as cold storage facilities, industrial plants, or underground tunnels.

Our specialized detection and alarm solutions include:

  • 24-hour fire alarm monitoring
  • Harmful gas detection
  • Linear heat detection
  • Release systems and devices
  • VESDA smoke detection
